Events and Visits

NEW! — Author Janee’ Thompson is now doing in-person visits in Wisconsin and virtual visits for out-of-state high school girls groups, community groups, after school programming, Black Student Union, and other groups that serve Black high school students! In-person visits include a fifteen minute presentation about the writing process, her experiences in middle and high school as a Black girl, and her writing roots that explain her why. The rest of the visit includes Q & A, book signing, and connecting with students and teens.

Because Janee”s books are so raw and reflective of the interactions, hallways, and realities in public schools across the nation, Janee”s discussions, talks, and connection with this targeted group focus on self-worth for Black girls, healthy Black teen relationships, healthy consensual situations and deconstructing unhealthy sex, mental health in the Black teen community, bullying, independence, and other topics that are relevant to high school teen girls and transitioning adults. Please refer to the discussion guide tab above to get a sense of what questions, topics, and ideas that will be covered in these visits.
